The Arthritis Foundation, which raises money to provide free arthritis-related services and information to the public, sponsored the event. Since 2001, the Williamsburg Arthritis Project has provided exercise programs, seminars, workshops, and self-help classes to over one thousand people in the community. “We can be particularly helpful to those newly diagnosed with arthritis,” says local coordinator, Laura Lawrence. “Physicians and other health-care providers can look upon us as a community resource for information and assistance when financial aid is required to fund medications, equipment, or classes."
